About the 2025 Election
There are nine (9) 2025 – 2027 Board of Directors positions open for election.
- Nominations close April 14, 2025.
- An online election will take place between May 20 - June 7, 2025.

The elected candidates will be announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held June 18, 2025 virtually. A virtual board meeting will follow the AGM
Board Responsibilities
- Board members are elected for a two-year term
- The chapter board is an operational board and in addition to providing strategic direction board members are required to provide operational support for their assigned portfolios
- The chapter board holds monthly virtual board meetings
- Eligible candidates must be members in good standing of both HIMSS and HIMSS Canadian Prairies Chapter for at least 1 year
Available Board Positions
President-Elect
Assists the Chapter President in conducting business affairs and activities through delegated duties. Presides over the board meetings in President’s absence to ensure leadership continuity.
Qualifications: Must have served in another board position for at least 1-year, current HIMSS member, with demonstrated leadership skills.
Treasurer
Manages all chapter funds and financial matters in accordance with approved budget and Board policies. Oversees deposits, disbursements, and financial reporting.
Qualifications: strong financial acumen and commitment to ethical fund management.
Secretary
Records all actions of the Chapter Board and membership. Maintains the shared drive with the Chapter’s permanent corporate records and oversees elections and surveys.
Qualifications: strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining accurate Chapter records.
Sponsorship, Membership, Outreach Chair
Leads the membership committee in developing annual recruiting, retention and value/benefits plans for members.
Qualifications: leadership skills and commitment to growing chapter membership.
Advocacy Chair
Provides leadership and support to the Board on HIMSS advocacy initiatives at National, Provincial and Local levels, serving as the chapter’s advocacy policy expert.
Qualifications: leadership skills and understanding of healthcare policy/advocacy landscape.
Health Information Exchange (HIE) Chair
Provide leadership and support to the board of directions with respect to local, provincial and national Health Information Exchange developments
Qualifications: leadership skills and understanding of health information exchange landscape
Member at Large – Alberta
Provide Alberta representation on the chapter board, representing the provincial membership, assuming duties and needs of the chapter.
Member at Large – Saskatchewan
Provide Saskatchewan representation on the chapter board, representing the provincial membership, assuming duties and needs of the chapter.
Member at Large – Manitoba
Provide Manitoba representation on the chapter board, representing the provincial membership, assuming duties and needs of the chapter
