President - Jason Carling, BSc, MBA, CPHIMS

Jason is an Enterprise Architect at Alberta Health Services with over 20 years of experience in Health IT in Western Canada in wide range of roles across the care continuum. Jason has a degree in computer science and an MBA specializing in healthcare management. Jason believes that advancing health IT is integral to improving the health system that is so important to the well-being of Canadians and our cultural identity.

President-Elect - Bev Rhodes, RN, MSN, CPHIMS-CA, FHIMSS

Bev Rhodes currently is the Executive Director - Connect Care Clinical Operations - Training & Health Informatics for Alberta Health Services. Bev has formal training in nursing informatics along with computer science and holds a CPHIMS-CA certification. Outside of work, Bev loves to spend time in the mountains snowmobiling.

Past-President - Crystal Emery, BScN, MSc

Crystal Emery is currently a Clinical Informatics Lead at Alberta Health Services, following 17 years of experience working as Registered Nurse in Emergency, Critical Care and Rural settings. The benefits of clinical informatics to patient care, quality, and safety led to a career in Health IT. Crystal completed her Master’s degree in Health Care Quality at Queen’s University. When she’s not working, Crystal loves to hurl herself down mountains on either a bike or snowboard with her family and friends.

Treasurer - Pamela Zielinski, RN, MN, MBA

Pam Zielinski is the Senior Trainer for Cardiology and Diagnostic Imaging for Connect Care, a position held within Alberta Health Services. Pam holds a MN as well as a MBA and was previously a member of the Faculty of Nursing with the University of Calgary in Qatar. Pam is also a trained Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has also spent many years working as a CNS and RN at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton. Pam loves to spend time with her husband and children, cook, practice yoga, and travel.

Secretary and Web Site Chair - Guy Paterson, LFHIMSS

Guy Paterson is a HIMSS Lifetime Fellow and 30-year HIMSS member with experience in both the US and Canada. He has over 30 years of hospital and healthcare clinical and IT service experience and 20 years as owner of health consulting company active in the US, Western Canada and with Canada Health Infoway. Guy holds Lifetime Fellow advancement in HIMSS. He is retired and currently volunteers as a Board Member for health related not-for-profits including HIMSS, a health charity and a health innovation development organization.

Marketing, Publications, Communications Chair - Meganne Sholdice, MHI

Meganne Sholdice is a Manager within Deloitte’s Digital Care practice and works with healthcare organizations across Canada to implement digital health solutions and maximize the use of data generated to support quintuple aim goals. Meganne holds a Masters of Health Informatics from the University of Toronto and has over 15 years of industry experience driving clinical transformations through the application of technology. Outside of work, Meganne enjoys travelling, spending quality time with her family and two dogs, and is an avid pinball player.

Shauna Davies is a registered nurse and Assistant Professor at the University of Regina. Her research and teaching interests include digital health, virtual care, virtual reality, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her other hobbies include cooking, spending time with friends and family, and travelling to new locations.

Advocacy Chair - Pavel Medvedev, BSc, CPHIMS

With over a decade in healthcare informatics, Pavel appreciates the role of technology in enhancing patient care. At his current role with Salesforce, he collaborates with government and health entities in Canada to refine and elevate health services. His contributions to HIMSS and the University of Alberta's Health Research Ethics Board highlight his dedication to supporting the health community. As he delves deeper into his Master's in Medicine Informatics, Pavel is keen on expanding his knowledge and bringing about innovation. When not immersed in work, he enjoys hiking, playing sports, and quality time with family.

Board Members at Large (AB) - David Pincock, MBA, MScIB, CPHIMS-CA

David Pincock is the Director Medical Informatics and Physician Training program for Alberta Health Services as well as Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta. David has formal training in business along with biology, has been working in healthcare since 2004 and informatics since 2009. He holds his CPHIMS-CA certification. Outside of work, David loves to spend time at the lake or outdoors with his family and friends.

Board Members at Large (SK) - Cassandra Klassen

Cassandra Klassen is currently the Principal - Prairies Health for Accenture Inc. She has over 20 years’ experience the healthcare industry as a Health Information Management professional and as an experienced Project and Program Manager, her experience includes: tele-triage, virtual care, long-term care, community care, and acute care. Cassandra is also a certified change management practitioner and has obtained a certification in PROSCI. Outside of work, Cassandra loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and being active in her community by volunteering at non-profit organizations.

Board Members at Large (MB) - Elliot Desilets, MSc

Elliot Desilets is the Director of Business Development for Western Canada with Petal Health. He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Manitoba and has over 10 years of experience in the health sector, supporting and leading commercial engagements with health system stakeholders. Outside of work, Elliot is an avid sports fan, a weekend golfer and enjoys spending quality time with his family in Winnipeg.
